2014 is coming to a close, and it’s time to take a look at a few trade show trends and statistics. Over the past few years, several companies have been providing their own research and sharing their insights with industry leaders in regards to trade show statistics. We’ve gathered a list of the top 8 statistics and present them to you now.
81% of trade show attendees have buying authority
This is a promising statistic. Roughly 4 out of 5 people that visit your booth, or that you may encounter at a trade show, have the ability to buy your product or service. Don’t be shy at trade shows, venture out and network because you’ll find a lot of good leads.
3 out of 4 trade show attendees travel more than 400 miles
According to a CEIR report, 78% of trade show attendees will travel more than 400 miles to attend the exhibition. If you are a strictly local business, you may have the opportunity to expand nationwide, or regionally. This is great news if you plan on expanding your business reach.
The average attendee spends an average of 9 hours viewing exhibits
Keep in mind this is the total time spent on the trade show floor visiting booths and exhibits. This doesn’t include the entire event.
First time attendees account for roughly 38% of the trade show audience
The statistic doesn’t mean it is someone’s first trade show ever, it means it is their first time exhibiting a specific show. This helps measure the success of attracting new attendees to certain trade shows
81% of exhibitors remember visiting a company’s exhibit
This seems like a high percentage, but it calls something important to our attention. Since so many exhibits are being remembered, it’s crucial that you create a trade show booth that stands out from the competition (in a good way). We carry the best booths, TRUSS systems, and accessories on the market. And if you need custom graphics or need help with promotions, we’d love to help you out!
About 50% of trade shows in the USA take place in 3 cities
Seems pretty shocking, right?! 50% of the largest 200 trade shows take place in either Las Vegas, Chicago or Orlando.
45% of attendees attend one exhibition a year
This makes the attendees a fairly unique audience.
Trade show attendees go to exhibitions to see new products
The top reason why attendees (non-exhibitors) attend a trade show is to see all the new products in that industry. For over 25 years, this has been the number one reason. So if you have a product (or about to launch a product) be sure to bring it and show it off!
